2007 Regional Championship Information
The 2007 Regional Championship races (intermediate distance only) that are listed below will qualify the top 33 percent or top five finishers (whichever is greater) in each age group for the National Age Group Championship. 2007 Regional Championship events will also be used as qualifiers for the 2008 World Championships in Vancouver, Canada (June 7-8). Each Regional Championship race will be used to fill an additional 10 slots per age group (one per region). The top age group winner will qualify for the 2008 World Championships with slots rolling down to 3rd place. Age group winners will have two weeks to secure their slot. If the age group winner declines their Worlds slot, the roll down process will begin. The roll down process will be given a two week deadline from the deadline date of the age group winner. 2007 Regional Championship selected events will also be used for a lottery system to fill the unclaimed slots in each age group. The lottery selections will be made on November 14, 2007.

2008 World Championship Qualification Information
1. The 2007 Age Group National Championship will be a double qualifier. The top 16 in each age group will qualify for the 2007 World Championships in Hamburg, Germany (September 1-2). The top 8 in each age group will also qualify for the 2008 World Championships in Vancouver, Canada (June 7-8).
2. Athletes must secure their 2008 Worlds slot by October 31, 2007.
3. 2007 Regional Championship selected events will be used to fill an additional 10 slots per age group (one per region). The top age group winner will qualify for the 2008 World Championships with slots rolling down to 3rd place. Age group winners will have two weeks to secure their slot. 5. The lottery system will reward the top four in each age group (those who have not already secured their Worlds slot), with entries into the lottery selection process: 2nd Place = 3 entries, 3rd Place = 2 entries and 4th Place = 1 entry. The number of athletes selected in each age group will be determined by how many slots are available after the final deadline date. An additional 8 names will be selected to serve as the “roll down” process if the initial names selected do not claim their slot. If an age group winner initially declines their Worlds slot, and decides they would like to go to Worlds after the deadline, they can be entered into the lottery: 1st Place = 4 entries.
6. The athletes who are awarded a slot through the lottery selection process will have a deadline of December 5, 2007 to secure their slot. After this deadline, the “roll down” athletes will be contacted in the order they were picked. The deadline for these athletes will be December 31, 2007.
7. By January 1, 2008 USAT will know the 2008 Team USA roster.
8. The 2008 Age Group National Championship will have a minimum of six World Championship slots for 2009 World Championships in Gold Coast, Australia. Date to be determined.
