Video Tip: Athletes and Performance Capabilities

How does an endurance athlete train his or her body for the demands of sports like triathlon? Athletes gradually adapt to stresses throughout the course of their training, building on their abilities and becoming stronger. In this video clip, international run coach Dr. Joe Vigil discusses an athlete’s biological adaptations to meet maximum performance capabilities and how you can break out of your comfort zone. Dr. Vigil was the head coach for Adams State College for nearly 30 years, winning National Coach of the Year 14 times. He has also coached Olympians like Denna Kastor.
