Years Involved in Multisport: Five years since my first triathlon in New York
Describe Your Role with USA Triathlon: I’m currently serving as an Independent Director to the USA Triathlon Board of Directors at the National Level.
What drove you to the multisport lifestyle? Training for New York City Marathons was becoming both painful and boring. When my orthopedist, an avid triathlon, told me my metatarsal bones simply wouldn’t heal on the streets of New York and encouraged me to spend more time cross-training, triathlon seemed the perfect solution. Given my golf handicap, I figured I had nothing to lose. It turned out to be a great lifestyle decision.
Personal: I work hard buying and selling professional franchises and other sports properties, raising my two sophomores (Matt at Brown University and Eric at Riverdale Country School) and serving on several charitable boards. Training together and embracing the passion and camaraderie of the multisport world has been great fun for all three of us.
