USA Triathlon invites members to run for seats on the Board of Directors from the four regions listed below. The Board of Directors seeks candidates of all backgrounds, who share our passion for the sport of triathlon and who have a desire to encourage, support and enhance the multisport lifestyle in the USA. Letter from the USA Triathlon Board President
USA Triathlon Members,
The nomination period for candidates to serve on the National Board of Directors of USA Triathlon begins on May 1. I encourage any member willing to commit to represent the interests of their fellow athletes to the National Board to get involved. As mentioned in the call for nominations, there are seats up for election on four positions on the National Board of Directors. The requirements to be placed on the ballot are probably not as difficult as you may think, so please check it out.
What they do:
- The National Board of Directors has general charge of the business affairs and activities of USA Triathlon and defines the policies to be followed in carrying out the purposes of USA Triathlon as set forth in USAT’s Bylaws.
Time and travel commitments:
- Members of the National Board of Directors are expected to participate in frequent e-mail exchanges, teleconferences at least monthly, and attend at least three in-person meetings per year that typically last 2-3 days, including travel. Board members typically also serve as a member of (or as a liaison to) one or more of the committees vital to USAT’s continued success.
Board members don’t get compensated for their service, but are reimbursed for travel and lodging expenses directly related to their duties.
It has been my experience working with members of national governance that once involved, you will enjoy working with an incredibly enthusiastic bunch of like-minded athletes having fun working to further the sport they love. Please consider joining us, and running for a position on your National Board of Directors.
Brian Harrington
President, USA Triathlon Board of Directors
