2011 was a breakthrough season for Groff, who was forced to bounce back from fracturing her sacrum twice in 2010. She placed third in the ITU World Triathlon Series rankings in 2011 for the first-ever series podium finish by an American. She will make her Olympic debut after qualifying with a seventh-place finish on the same course in 2011.
