Triathlon Career: Member of the 2012 USA Paratriathlon National Team • Claimed the women’s TRI-5 gold medal at the 2012 ITU Paratriathlon World Championships • Winner of the women’s TRI-5 title at the 2012 USA Paratriathlon National Championship in Austin, Texas • Began racing triathlons in 1989 when the Bud Light Series came to her hometown and has completed events ranging from sprint to iron-distance.

Athletic Background:
Has also competed in a variety of cycling and running events • Owns four podium finishes at paracycling national championship events in 2011 and 2012 • Ran cross country in high school.  

Personal: Is a 21-year active duty Army service member with multiple deployments to the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan • Became an amputee in 2006 after being struck by an automobile while cycling • Says, “It was the Army that stuck by me and encouraged me to return to my previous life as quickly as possible, and I’m forever indebted for their support.” • Mother was a kidney transplant recipient and is an avid competitor at the World Transplant Games and has won several medals in race walking and swimming.
