Medex Int'l Insurance

MEDEX International Insurance
As you prepare for your upcoming competition abroad, please consider the added protection that international insurance can provide. Your domestic health insurance may not offer adequate travel protection during an emergency and benefits can be limited. Travelers are often left with the burden of making their own arrangements and paying costly out-of-pocket medical expenses.

MEDEX, a partner of the USOC and USA Triathlon, offers Travmed Abroad to take care of these problems and other travel, medical and security related issues. The cost to our athletes is at a discounted rate of $3/day which gives the traveler $100,000 in coverage, with only a $25 deductible per illness or injury. TravMed will locate nearest providers, hospitals, ER, arrange for medical evacuations, translation services and much more. This insurance covers the cost of services on a secondary basis to any personal insurance already in place (if there is no coverage then they become the primary insurer) after a $25 deductible. Illness and injuries, including sport injuries, are also included in the coverage.

We highly encourage all of our athletes to take advantage of this offer. You may get coverage for yourself as well as family and friends traveling abroad. Please review the link below if you would like additional information.

To be eligible for the overall Series Championship title, an athlete must compete in at least two series events and one from each country (everyone must have at least competed in one event in Canada and one event in the USA) If an athlete competes, but does not score points, in a Series event, that race will count toward the two race minimum requirement.  If an athlete starts a Series event but does not finish (DNF), that race also will count toward the minimum events requirement.  However, any disqualification (DQ) will nullify that race from counting in the series. Any ties will be broken by comparison of head-to-head finishes in Series events.  If there are no head-to-head finishes to compare, the athlete who raced the PATCO Paratriathlon Championship, wins.  If both athletes race the PATCO Paratriathlon Championships, the athlete with the higher place finish wins. Only athletes representing the United States and Canada, and have been given a new classification for the 2014 season, are eligible to score points and be ranked in the Series.

All Can-Am series finishers will be acknowledged through awards in this "international series" or ITU awards that are separate to national championships finishes (e.g.: in the case of this year, at the Canadian Paratriathlon National Championships in Magog, QC).

Scoring

Scoring of the Series will be maintained in conjunction with the USAT High Performance Department and the Triathlon Canada High Performance Department.  Standings are posted on the “Paratriathlon” page of the USAT website and the "Paratriathlon" page of the Triathlon Canada website.
