USA Triathlon’s Youth and Junior Coaching Certification Program is designed to educate current USAT certified coaches on how to train youth and junior athletes safely and effectively throughout their developmental stages. This clinic provides coaches with specialized youth and junior coaching skills and drills, age appropriate training regimes and testing protocols, physiological and nutritional considerations, and basic training techniques to develop successful youth and junior athletes.

Registration is currently open until the clinic reaches the 20 attendee maximum and can be found here. Please contact the Coaching Specialty Manager with any questions. You must be a current USAT Level I, II, or III Certified Coach to register for this clinic. If you are not a current coach, your registration will be cancelled and cancellation fees may be applied.
The cost of the clinic is $399. Successful completion of the Youth & Junior certification program will automatically renew USAT Level I, II, or III certifications (exceptions may apply). Coaches will receive 10 USAT CEUs for recertification upon successful completion of the certification.

Cancellation on or after 8 weeks prior to the first day of the clinic: $50 Penalty
Cancellation on or after 6 weeks prior to the first day of the clinic: $150 Penalty
Cancellation on or after 4 weeks prior to the first day of the clinic: NO REFUNDS AND NO EXCEPTIONS
Youth & Junior Recertification Policy
$25 to renew the Youth and Junior certification in addition to the $95 recertification fee to renew Level I, II or III certification.
Youth & Junior Specific Service to the Sport Requirements
Each coach is required to satisfy their Level I, II, II Endurance, or III recertification requirements in addition to the below service to the sport requirements for the Youth and Junior certification. The Level I, II, II Endurance, or III recertification must be submitted and accepted before the Youth and Junior can be accepted. These requirements can also be used to fulfill the Level I, II, II Endurance, or III service to the sport recertification requirements.
Coaches must select three of the below options to satisfy their Youth and Junior coaching recertification service to the sport:
- Coach or present at a USA Triathlon recognized youth or junior camp, clinic or coaching program (may be paid).
- Present or help with a school based triathlon related educational program.
- Contribute a youth or junior related article to a scholarly publication (research, academic publication or coaching article publication).
- Host a USAT sanctioned youth/junior triathlon race/camp/clinic.
- Present Youth/Junior related presentation at coaching clinic, club presentation, webinar, conference, etc.
- Volunteer at a youth/junior triathlon race/camp/clinic
- Contribute a Newsletter Article (Youth/Junior related) for Performance Coaching or USA Triathlon Life magazine (unpaid)
- Participate in other programs as pre-approved by the Coaching Education staff. Activities are evaluated by USA Triathlon, and written documentation must be provided.
Coaches must complete their Level I, II or III recertification prior to the Youth & Junior recertification. Please click here for instructions on how to complete the online recertification process.
In addition to normal Level I, II, II Endurance, or III late recertification requirements found here, Youth & Junior coaches will need to follow the late recertification policy below starting January 1, 2014.
Late recertification submitted January 1st – March 31st, 2014: A $15 late fee is required (in addition to $25 recertification fee and recertification requirements fulfilled) to be reinstated as current.
Late recertification submitted April 1st – December 31st, 2014: Coaches must complete 5 youth specific Continuing Education Credits in addition to the late fee and the regular recertification requirements.
Late recertification submitted January 1st – December 31, 2015: Coaches must retake the Youth & Junior coaching certification exam and pay the $100 fee to take the exam. In addition, coaches must complete all the requirements listed above as well as the regular recertification requirements.
Late recertification submitted after December 31, 2015: Coaches must retake the Youth & Junior clinic and complete all the requirements that are required to attend the clinic.
