2014 Coach of the Year Awards
Nominations are now being accepting for the 2014 Coach of the Year Award Program. Possible awards include:
- 2014 Developmental Coach of the Year
- 2014 Doc Counsilman Coach of the Year
- 2014 National Coach of the Year
- 2014 Paralympic Coach of the Year
- 2014 Volunteer Coach of the Year
Each year, NGBs have the opportunity to recognize and put forward one NGB coach in each of the five categories - Developmental, Doc Counsilman Science/Technology, National, Paralympic National, and Volunteer - to the USOC for recognition. The USOC provides a plaque to the coach in recognition of this award as the NGB (category) Coach of the Year.
The NGB coaches submitted in each of the five categories are then ranked according to the criteria on the applications by an independent panel of coaches/coach educators in order to select the national coach of the year in each category. The USOC recognizes the three finalists in each category each spring, and national recipients are announced and awarded over the summer.
PLEASE NOTE: coaches can only be evaluated based on the information submitted in the application packet. Please include ANY AND ALL information requested on the application and include as much detail you possibly can to ensure that the evaluating committee can consider all accomplishments. Committee members can ONLY evaluate what is submitted in the application packet, so please send ample supporting material if what you'd like to share goes beyond the scope of the applications.
All applications MUST come through the NGB - please submit to Linda.Cleveland@usatriathlon.org. Coaches should be recognized for the competition year 2014. Deadline to submit COY applications to our office is December 15, 2014 to ensure we are able to capture all results/honors for the entire competition year 2014.

Misconduct Reporting Procedures
USA Triathlon requires reporting of sexual misconduct or ethical misconduct by any coach, race director, support staff and strongly encourages reporting boundary violations, red flag behavior, or any other inappropriate conduct.
Child abuse and child sexual abuse is a crime. If USA Triathlon receives a complaint of sexual misconduct involving a minor, we will report it to the proper authorities. We urge all individuals to do the same.
Out of respect for the importance of this issue and to encourage honest and effective reporting, knowingly false vindictive reporting will not be tolerated.
Providing specific information regarding abuse or suspected abuse helps USA Triathlon to investigate the complaint, and when appropriate, enforce consequences.
If you need to report a violation or have questions about your situation, please contact USAT staff member Linda Cleveland (Linda.Cleveland@usatriathlon.org or 719-955-2810), who can help answer any questions you may have.
