2012 ITU Cross Triathlon (Off-Road) World Championship

Qualifying
Note: There are two ways to qualify for the 2012 ITU Cross (Off-Road) Triathlon World Championship
1. 2011 Cross Triathlon World Championships: All Team USA athletes who qualified or attended attend the 2011 ITU
Cross Triathlon World Championship in Extremadura, Spain.
- These athletes are granted an automatic slot on the team to race in 2012
- The Team USA Department will be emailing these athletes on February 15, 2012 with instructions on when and how to register for the 2012 team.
2. Skills based process: Email the Team USA Department (teamusa@usatriathlon.org) with a link to your best race
finish result from any 2011 cross (off-road) triathlon result to be considered for the team.
- Once the Team USA Department receives your email you will receive an email back with one of two responses:
- An acceptance email with information on how to register for the team
- A disallowance email that states you did not qualify for the team
- please note if you do not receive an email response back from the Team USA Department within 1 week, please re-send your email as it may have gotten lost in the spam folder.
- The deadline to submit a race result is March 15, 2012
Please note this event will not have a Team USA Support staff at the event due to the event being held in the United States. This means that USA Triathlon will no charge the $50 team fee for this event. USA Triathlon will be charging an additional $15 on top of the entry fee to cover a Team USA Parade Shirt along with USAT sponsor swag.
Junior Elite Athletes:
Any junior athlete (age 16-19) interested in competing in the 2012 Junior Elite Cross World Championship event should forward a race resume of recent results to Jocelyn Buras, jocelyn.buras@usatriathlon.org to be considered for selection. Please submit everything no later than Friday, March 16th, 2012. The Selection Committee will begin reviewing applications the week of March 19th and notify all athletes of their status by the end of the month. Junior athletes selected to the World’s team will be provided with a TYR team kit as well as race registration fees. All travel will be at the expense of the athlete.Elite Athletes:
The 2012 Elite Cross Triathlon World Championship qualification criteria can be found on the USAT website at the address below:

Per the elite qualification criteria, the “Top three Americans per gender with no roll downs will achieve automatic qualification. Unused slots will be selected via resume review” with the qualification event being the Xterra Off-Road National Championships held in September 2011. To be considered as a resume athlete, please submit your race resume to Jocelyn Buras (jocelyn.buras@usatriathlon.org) no later than March 1st, 2012.
