Sprint Worlds Qualification for Ages 16-19

by Steve Kelley / November 22, 2009

Teenage athletes looking for an opportunity to represent Team USA at a World Championships should consider competing for one of 18 spots at the 2010 ITU Sprint Distance Triathlon World Championships.  The race will take place in Budapest, Hungary, on September 8-12, 2010.

In order to reduce the travel demands on our youngest members, we have designed a two-tiered qualification process. Eight spots will be awarded at the special qualifier to be held in Davenport, Iowa, on June 19. Ten spots will be awarded at regional selection events – one spot per region.

Read the full qualification criteria here.

"Sprint Worlds" is a non-drafting race, which distinguishes it from the ITU Junior World Championships, a draft-legal event. A separate qualification process will determine USAT's team for "Junior Worlds." It will be announced shortly.
