USA Triathlon is committed to hosting environmentally friendly races. Below are a list of initiatives USA Triathlon has implemented in the 2009 Collegiate National Championship. - Each athlete will be receiving a back pack filled with race material and not a plastic goodie bag.
- Event T-shirts are made out of recycled polyester and bamboo produced by Green Layer, USAT official supplier .
- USAT is encouraging sponsors to give an item for the bag and not paper flier or brochure.
- The event program is printed on recycled paper by DocuMart.
- PickupPal acts as a ride share program for athletes and we are able to track reduced carbon emissions for travel to the race.
- Holiday Inn Park Plaza (host hotel) recycles cardboard, controls the temperature in common areas and encourages reduced water consumption.
