No bags or personal items will be allowed in transition. The security of bags and personal items is the responsibility of the athletes, not USAT.

All athletes will need a wristband, which they receive at registration, to enter the park for free on Friday and Saturday. If they do not have a wristband or need to get into the park before Friday, it will cost $6 per person.

Swim Safety
If the water temperature is 55 degrees or below on race morning, all athletes will be required to wear wetsuits.

  • Water temperature is expected to be in the mid 60s in April.
  • USAT anticipates a wetsuit legal swim.
  • Swim socks or neoprene booties are legal for the Collegiate Sprint and Nationals races
  • Athletes may want to wear ear plugs and two swim caps for the swim depending on the temperature (USAT will provide athletes with ONE swim cap that must be visibly worn during the swim)
  • If you have a latex allergy, please let USAT staff know and we will provide you with a non-latex swim cap.

Bike Course Instructions

Climbing the hill out of transition at the beginning of the bike course:
1.    The most efficient way with putting on your bike shoes for this particular hill, is to put your shoes on while your bike is still racked and run your bike to the mount/dismount line in your bike shoes.
2.    Mount/Dismount line is in the back corner of the transition area.  Once you have crossed the mount dismount line-go ahead and mount your bike.
3.    Your bike should be in the small chain ring and the easiest gear.
4.    Then ride your bike out the side of the transition area, continuing out the bike lane as it gets wider.  This will lead you to the base of the hill for the first short, steep climb.
5.    Stay to your right as you are going out the lane and up the hill.

Descending the hill into the transition area finishing the bike course:
1.    When you begin descending the last hill, have your feet in a defensive position with the cranks (pedals) parallel to the ground.
2.    Ride down the hill and begin breaking WITH THE THE BACK BREAK BEFORE you turn right into the bike lane.
3.    Slow down too into the curve and continue slowing down as you go through the bike lane.
4.    You can continue to ride your bike-VERY SLOWLY, as the bike lane narrows and comes along side the bike transition area.
5.    Mount/Dismount line is the same location as when you exited the transition on your bike.
6.    Dismount prior to the Line in the back corner of the transition area.
7.    Run your bike to your bike rack.
