This webinar will address the importance of understanding cognitive development of young athletes and how coaches need to be able to recognize cognitive benchmarks that will help them employ various coaching techniques to help young athletes understand, process, and successfully utilize coaching direction and guidance. Objectives include understanding basic middle childhood through early adolescence cognitive milestones, utilization of basic coaching techniques to support healthy mental development, review of possible scenarios observed when coaching youth athletes and recognition of developmental “warning signs.”
Duston Morris is a long-time personal trainer and multisport coach. He is owner and founder of 3 Sport Fitness, an endurance performance coaching service, and is also the Senior Vice President and Clinic Director for Alive With Mission Me, a not-for-profit organization committed to combating childhood obesity and increasing physical activity through the development of youth multisport curricula and programs. Duston has been recognized for his work in youth multisport, health prevention and promotion, and fitness/endurance training for adults.
