Webinar: Hydration and Electrolyte Replacement for Long Course Triathletes
Topic: Hydration and Electrolyte Replacement for Long Course Triathletes
Presenter: David Glover
Full and Half Ironman-distance events are swim, bike and run odysseys where triathletes can experience dehydration, stomach distress, hyperthermia or even hyponatremia in environmental conditions that may dramatically change from start to finish.
This webinar will review and discuss the existing research on hydration, electrolyte replacement and fluid and nutrient absorption to include answering questions such as:
- What is "heart rate creep" during a long training session or race?
- What are the signs and symptoms of dehydration?
- What causes bloating?
- What is the best way to re-hydrate after a race?
The presentation will then provide a practical and integrated nutrition and hydration strategy for pre-, during and post-race.
