Topic: Lactate Testing Protocols
As a follow-up to the introduction on lactate testing, this webinar will cover the most common protocols for testing in the laboratory and in the field. Additionally, it will touch on other types of threshold testing such as that for critical power on the bike.
Tests that will be covered will include:
• Laboratory-based step test for running and cycling
• Pool-based swim test
• Field-based Conconi style tests
• V4 running and cycling tests
Lastly, more detail on how to interpret lactate values will be given so that coaches who take this webinar will be poised to get the most of their athletes' results.
About Karl Riecken
Karl Riecken is a coach focused on helping athletes understand how to make the best choices with their training. He has worked for the Sport Performance departments of both USA Swimming and USA Triathlon. He has been an assistant coach for multiple youth camps and is the Camp Director for the upcoming USAT Collegiate Recruitment Camp at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center in July of this year. Karl holds a Master's degree in Sport and Fitness: Heath/Wellness and Applied Exercise Physiology from the University of Central Florida and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Additionally, Karl holds coaching certifications from USA Triathlon, USA Cycling, USA Track and Field, the Road Runners Club of America, and is a USAT Certified Youth & Junior Coach. He currently coaches all levels of athletes from beginners up through elites, including Olympic Solidarity-awarded triathlete Stojan Popovski of Macedonia.
