Registration is now open, registration instructions are below.

Registration Timeline

January 12, 2012 : Registration for qualified teams opens at 11:00 a.m. Mountain Time for the Collegiate National Championship point scoring teams.

January 12, 2012: Registration for the open division opens at 11 a.m. Mountain Time.

January 12, 2012: Registration for the team relay opens at 11 a.m. Mountain Time.

March 16, 2012: Minimum of 35 teams must be registered for team relay.

March 30, 2012: Eligibility verification due to USA Triathlon for Collegiate National Championship point scoring division. If athletes in this division are not yet decided, anyone that could potentially compete must be included on the form. ALL athletes registered under a team name, regardless of whether they have a full (4 person) team MUST submit the eligibility form.

April 10, 2012: Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. There will be no changes after this date. All athlete information and seeding must be finalized. All registrations must also be confirmed.


Important Registration Information

  • There are NO refunds or transfers of entries
  • Athletes MUST be annual USAT members to race
  • Athletes MUST be 28 years old or under on race day

Collegiate Nationals
(Olympic Distance)

Entry fee: $105.00
The race will be limited to 1250 athletes

Collegiate Relay (Four-person, draft legal mixed relay)

Entry fee: FREE
The race will be limited to 50 teams (200 athletes). There will need to be 35 teams signed up by March 16th for the event to take place.

Athletes must receive approval from their Collegiate Conference before registering for the Collegiate Relay. For your Collegiate Conference’s contact information, click here.

Teams must be comprised of 2 males and 2 females (order goes female-male-female-male)

Point Scoring Teams Registration Instructions

Steps for Collegiate Nationals Point Scoring Team Registration

  1. Register as an official USAT Collegiate Club – all collegiate teams must be registered with USA Triathlon. To register, click here.
  2. Qualify – All teams and individuals must first qualify within their respective conference’s qualification requirements. Requirements by conference can be found by clicking here.
  3. Purchase Team Slots – This step can ONLY be completed by the team captain. If you are unsure who is listed as your club’s team captain, please email clubs@usatriathlon.org. For instructions to purchase team slots, click here. *Note: If your team earned more than 7 male and 7 female slots, contact nationalevents@usatriathlon.org or call 719-955-2818 for special instructions to reserve your additional slots.
  4. Enter Team Member Names and Seeding Information – This step can ONLY be completed by the team captain. This step must be completed by April 10, 2012 at 5 p.m. Mountain Time. For instructions to enter Team Member Names and seeding information, click here.
  5. CONFIRM Athletes – This step can ONLY be completed by each team athlete. This step must be completed by April 10, 2012 at 5 p.m. Mountain Time. For instructions to confirm athletes, click here.
  6. Submit Athlete Eligibility Form – This step must be completed by March 30, 2012. Teams must fill in any athlete that may potentially compete for their point scoring team members. Click here to access the form.

Individual Athlete Open Division Registration Instructions

  1. Register on your own – All interested athletes must register on your own, as you will be competing as individuals. You will not be considered part of a point scoring team and will race in the last wave of the Collegiate National Championship race.

  1. Register on your own – All interested athletes must register on your own, as you will be competing as individuals. You will not be considered part of a point scoring team and will race in the last wave of the Collegiate National Championship race. All athletes in this division are not eligible for awards.

Eligibility

Each team will be required to:

1. Be registered as an official USAT Collegiate Club
To register your club with USAT, click here. The USAT club membership fee is a flat $50 rate for all clubs. Clubs will be able to register as a club and for the event on the same day.

2.  Qualify
Teams must qualify within their respective Collegiate Triathlon Conference in order to be eligible to register for the Collegiate National Championship. For details on each conference's qualification requirements, click here. Questions regarding Collegiate Triathlon Conference qualification requirements should be directed to the Collegiate Committee representative for each team’s respective conference. 3. Register
Once qualified to register, teams will be allowed to purchase up to 7 male and 7 female slots once registration opens (plus any bonus slots earned through Conference racing – up to, but no more than 12 slots per gender). These slots can be purchased up until registration closes, provided that the race has not sold out. Click here for registration instructions.

4. Provide Athlete Eligibility Information
Submit athlete eligibility to USA Triathlon. Team captains must submit ONE page with all potential team members' names signed off by the university registrar's office that all students are in good standing AND:

  • Are enrolled full-time within the 2011-2012 academic year OR
  • Fulfilled their degree requirement no more than 6 months prior to April 21, 2012 OR
  • Are currently enrolled on a part-time basis because they are completing their degree requirements during the term

Final teams do not have to be determined prior to submitting the eligibility form. However, any athlete that ends up competing in the point scoring team event must be listed on the eligibility form.  Eligibility must be submitted by March 30, 2012. Eligibility Requirements for Collegiate Nationals

  • All teams must be registered USA Triathlon clubs.
  • All teams must be in good standing with their affiliated school.
  • Each athlete must be in good standing financially, academically, and disciplinary within the 2011-2012 academic year (undergrad or graduate) AND
    • Are enrolled full-time, as determined by their school, within the 2011-2012 academic year OR
    • Fulfilled their degree requirement no more than 6 months prior to April 21, 2012 OR
    • Are currently enrolled on a part-time basis because they are completing their degree requirements during the term
  • A full-time athlete, who completes degree requirements for an advanced degree during the fall or winter, is eligible to compete in the National Championship held the same academic year.
  • An athlete, who was a full-time student in the fall semester or winter quarter, but is not a full-time student at the time of the National Championships is not eligible for the National Championships if they did not complete their degree requirements.
  • If an athlete has changed schools/teams (through a transfer or after graduation), they must compete for the school in which they are currently enrolled as a full-time student.
  • All athletes must be 28 years old or under on race day.
  • All athletes must be USAT annual members.
