Dr. Matt Pahnke, a scientist from GSSI, and Ben Collins, an elite triathlete, will be presenting Sports Nutrition for the Endurance Athlete. This webinar will focus on the nutritional needs of triathletes before, during and after exercise. Special attention will be given to recovery, including quality, quantity and timing of protein consumption. Attendees will also learn how to create a personalized race nutrition plan. In addition, Ben will provide his perspective as an elite athlete and describe how he maintains proper nutrition.
Dr. Matthew Pahnke
Dr. Matt Pahnke graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with master’s and doctoral degrees in kinesiology, while specializing in sports science and nutrition. He is a USA Triathlon Level II Certified Coach and an avid triathlete; he has competed in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships and was a member of Team USA (top age group athletes who qualify to compete in ITU World Championship races) in 2007.
Ben Collins has been racing as an elite triathlete since 2007. A native of Seattle, Collins currently trains in Chicago, and competes in both draft-legal and non-draft events. In 2013, he set course records en route to victories at the Life Time Nautica South Beach Triathlon, 5150 Giant Eagle Triathlon and the Experience Frankenmuth Tri, finishing in the top three at four other major events in the U.S. Collins is also known for his cycling prowess, having recorded the fastest bike split at 11 of the 16 events on his 2013 calendar. As an age-group athlete in 2007, Collins posted the fastest overall times at the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships and the age-group ITU Triathlon World Championships.
