Spots Remain For USA Triathlon Art & Science Coaching Symposium

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Less than one month remains until the 2010 USA Triathlon Art & Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium, but spots still remain for this exciting weekend set for Feb. 12-14 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Highlighting the symposium will be keynote speakers Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind man to summit Mt. Everest, Johan Bruyneel, who guided Lance Armstrong to seven Tour de France titles as his longtime team manager, and Sue Enquist, Director of Major Gifts with UCLA Athletics.

Additionally, scheduled presenters for the weekend include: Istvan Bayli, Vern Gambetta, Mark Allen, Joe Friel, Sage Rountree, Andy MacDonald, Alicia Kendig, Ben Elder, Jennifer Hutchison, Tim Crowley, Boris Robinson, Stephen McGregor and Andy Schmitz.

Topics will include: Linking Coaches with Race Directors, Insurance, Functional Training for Triathletes, Maximizing Your Income as a Coach, Nutrition for Junior Triathletes, Women Specific Nutrition, Winter Triathlon, Youth Specific: Training, Appropriate Distances, Race Course Set Up, Essentials of a Great Ironman Training Program, Beyond the Core-Training from the Ground Up, Using Technology for Running, Periodization for Junior Athletes, Stress Based Periodization, Yoga for Triathletes, Cycling Interval Training, Training the Paratriathlete, Development Pathway Options for the High School and Collegiate Triathlete, The Triathlon Swim-Improving Technique and Training with Power.

The price of the Symposium is $495, which includes three Broadmoor catered breakfasts, three lunches and a Friday evening reception in addition to sessions with some of the top minds in the sport of triathlon. All meals will be served at the Symposium site. The Symposium fee also includes entry to the Saturday morning fun run sponsored by Sweatvac.

This Symposium will feature breakout sessions as well as a vendor expo.

Check-in for the Symposium will be held on Thursday, Feb. 11 from 4-6 p.m. The Symposium will begin at 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12 and will conclude at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14.

The Symposium weekend will also feature the second USAT Hall of Fame Banquet, which will honor inductees Jim Curl, Carl Thomas, Valerie Silk, Barb Lindquist, and Paula Newby-Fraser.

The official induction will take place at a dinner on Saturday evening, Feb. 13. Tickets still remain for $40 and can be purchased online.
