Nationals to Feature Enhanced Results from ZumTri

The 2009 Age Group National Championships and the 2009 Elite National Championships will feature enhanced results from ZumTri. ZumTri shows a virtual replay of the race highlighting the competition of athletes against their age group.
 
ZumTri is a new web-based Flash application that shows a virtual race, complete with swimming, cycling and running animations competing against each other on a map of the course. The technology converts chip-timing results into interactive race visualizations by calculating the athlete’s pace to estimate positions throughout the race.
 
Athletes can try the application right now by watching the 2008 race results visualization by typing in an athlete athlete to watch, or select “choose for me.” They have the option to also select friends or rivals. As a race preview, 2008 results are shown on the map of the 2009 race in Tuscaloosa, Ala. This way athletes can create a goal racer to see how your goal time would likely measure up against the field. To do this, select “Goal” in the lower left hand side of the application.
 
Beyond the race graphics, participants can also look at several charts and graphs to help you analyze your ranking for each leg, and where you fit in the overall time of the race. Athletes can also bookmark and share their race results through common social networking services.
 
ZumTri was also part of the 2009 USAT Collegiate National Championship, and the 2009 USAT Junior Olympic Festival of Races. The ZumTri depiction of the Group National Championship is unique since the age group is highlighted, and people in other age groups are ghosted. This way, it will be easy to see who your real competition is.
