Everyman Endurance Podcast with USA Triathlon CEO Skip Gilbert

Triathlon still remains one of the fastest growing new sports in the world. In the United States, membership in USA Triathlon has gone from the tens of thousands to the hundreds of thousands when you include race-day memberships.

As executive director of USAT, Skip Gilbert has overseen this phenomenal growth, as well as all of the growing pains associated with it.

As the governing body of triathlon in the United States, USAT sanctions many of the races held in America including the 70.3 and full Ironman races.

USAT is in charge of providing the race course marshals and administering penalties.

USAT also administers a national points ranking system, as well as working with the professional and Olympic athletes in the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

All of these activities are not without controversy – so we asked Mr. Gilbert about these issues as well as where USAT has been, and where it will go in the future.
