USA Triathlon Partners with Greenlayer
USA Triathlon is pleased to announce that Greenlayer Sports Apparel has signed on as an official "go green" corporate partner of USAT.
As the official eco-friendly apparel supplier to USAT, Greenlayer will support the USAT National Championships and offer significant savings to USAT clubs and race directors who choose to outfit their members and participants with Greenlayer's eco-friendly technical apparel.
"Partnering with Greenlayer is an ideal way to launch our green initiative here at USAT," said USA Triathlon Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Tim Yount. "The Greenlayer products are everything we could ask for - a technical, functional, environmentally responsible product that looks as good as it feels. We look forward to coordinating with Greenlayer as we strive to promote and to live by a message of sustainability."
Greenlayer apparel is built to adapt to changing climates, exude functionality, and meet the requirements for performance and environmentally responsible design. The company delivers a unique blend of athletic apparel and lifestyle products that are made from environmentally conscious dyes and performance fabrics, such as bamboo charcoal, recycled polyester, bamboo, soy, and organic cotton. The company product line includes a range of base layers, outerwear, and accessories that offer versatile designs, unmatched comfort, attention to detail, and high-end performance that is ideal for the multisport athlete.
"USAT has been a leader in the tremendous growth and development of triathlon and is one of the first major sports groups to adopt environmental standards to implement across the organization. This type of forward thinking by USAT will drive awareness and be an example for other organizations in the future," said Kim Bilancio, co-owner of Greenlayer Sports Apparel. "A partnership between Greenlayer and USAT is a natural fit given the environmental initiatives of each organization. We look forward to supporting the athletes, clubs, and race directors involved with USAT, while setting new standards for the industry to follow."
Formed in Portland, Ore., by a team of veterans in the apparel industry and long time endurance athletes, Greenlayer has a goal to offer an environmentally conscious product line that is accessible and affordable to all athletes. Greenlayer strives to maximize eco-friendly material usage in all of its apparel and redefine the expectations of performance apparel in the marketplace. Greenlayer is also a member of 1 percent for the Planet, and has a commitment to supporting environmental causes. Greenlayer tests and develops all of its products in Oregon, which is known for its proximity to Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge. Designs must perform through the grueling hot summers of the Central Oregon high deserts and the rain-filled winters of the Northwest.
