How many World Triathlon Series races will Gwen Jorgensen win in her career?
USAT Guitar Hero Collegiate National Championship
LUBBOCK, Texas — Collegiate National Championship athletes, get your inner rock star ready. After you throw down on the national championship course, you could shred a power ballad in front of a thousand of your closest friends. USA Triathlon, Sony PlayStation®, Tri-Zone and Rudy Project have combined to present the first ever Collegiate National Championship Guitar Hero® Concert Contest.
Want in? If you race the Collegiate National Championship, you’ve got a shot.
Here’s how it works. When you pick up your race packet at the Holiday Inn on Friday, April 17, be sure to stop by the Tri-Zone booth. Say “hi” to Jeff and drop your info in the magic box. Be sure to include your full name, a functional email address, and of course the institution of higher learning that you will be representing.* Concert Managers will draw a list of 20 rockers to include 10 dudes and 10 ladies, each from different schools. The list will be posted in the Tri-Zone tent at the venue on race day.
Should you be chosen, you should be ready to rock. The Concert takes place at the awards ceremony venue and kicks off at 4 p.m. sharp with 10 head-to-head single-track Guitar Hero® battles. From the original 20, the four guys and four gals with the best scores will have a chance to rock their way through an elite eight bracket to the final showdown.
Bracket play begins at 5 p.m., and this is when it’ll get interesting. Competing thrashers are encouraged to bring back up dancers, to dress the part and to throw every rock star trick they’ve got. Advancing through the brackets will take raw Guitar Hero® skill, but only the true rock stars who win over the crowd will move on. The final show will be an epic battle of the sexes featuring the champ from each side of the bracket.
The bottom line: be a rock star and bring your whole team; you’ll need them to win. And you’ll want to win. In addition to the glory of rock star status, the quarterfinalists will receive $25 iTunes® gift cards, second place gets $50 to iTunes®, and the winner gets a pair of rock star shades from Rudy Project. Additional prizes will be given to “best dressed,” “best team” and “best in show.”
We’ll see you on tour in Lubbock. Bring your game.
