COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Olympic triathlete Andy Potts and his wife Lisa have announced the birth of their daughter, Sloane, born March 24. Baby Sloane (8 pounds, 12 ounces) is the second child for Potts and his wife, who have a two year old son, Boston.

Potts had plans to race in this weekend's Ironman 70.3 California, where last year he set a new swim course record, but has since confirmed that he will be staying in Colorado with his family. He will kick off his 2010 race season next month in New Orleans.

Potts has been an elite triathlete since 2003. He earned his spot on the 2004 Olympic triathlon team at the 2004 ITU Triathlon World Championship, and has won a number of titles, including his five wins in 2009 at St. Anthony's Triathlon, Wildflower Triathlon, Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, Whirlpool Ironman 70.3 Steelhead and Timberman Ironman 70.3.
