Verzbicas Wins Jim Ryun High School Dream Mile

(0 votes)

The world of multisport collided with the sport of track and field last weekend at New York’s Icahn Stadium. As a part of the prestigious adidas Grand Prix meet, Lukas Verzbicas captured the title at the Jim Ryun High School Dream Mile.

In addition to being a standout runner, Verzbicas has quite a future in triathlon. He won both the 2009 ITU Junior Duathlon World Championship and the 2009 junior Pan American title in triathlon.

Ryun, a three-time Olympian and the first high schooler to break the 4-minute mile, was named to USA Triathlon’s Board of Directors in February.

Verzbicas hoped to break the 4-minute mark but was victorious in 4:04.38. Check out ESPN Rise for a recap of the race.
