USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship, Presented by Saucony, to Air Nationally on CBS Sports Network
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Multisport enthusiasts and college sports fans across the nation will be able to experience the excitement of collegiate triathlon, as CBS Sports Network televises the 2011 USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship, presented by Saucony, from Tuscaloosa, Ala., later this month.
“We are delighted that CBS Sports Network will televise the 2011 USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship for all college sports fans,” said Chuck Menke, USA Triathlon Director of Marketing and Communications. “The school spirit on display at this event is unparalleled in endurance sports, and we look forward to showcasing our sport and the excitement of the USA Triathlon Collegiate Nationals.”
Nearly 1,600 athletes from more than 120 institutions are scheduled to compete next to the University of Alabama’s scenic campus. Over 1,200 athletes will tackle the Olympic-distance Collegiate National Championship event, which features a 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike and 10-kilometer run starting and finishing at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.
Many of the top up-and-coming multisport athletes in the nation are on the start list to pursue both individual and team national titles. Colorado is the defending team champion, while Army and Navy placed second and third, respectively, in 2010.
