Junior Development Scholarship Fund Seeks Matching Donors
USA Triathlon is seeking a matching donor to increase the grant pool available to teenage athletes through its Junior Development Scholarship Fund. The fund was created through the generosity of two Team USA duathletes in 2011 who wish to remain anonymous. In renewing their pledge for 2012, they have offered to donate another $3,000 if matched by fellow USAT members.
Scholarship funds are used to make participation in USAT junior development camps more accessible to our junior members. In 2011, participation grants were awarded to eight young athletes who attended camps in California, Iowa, Florida, Massachusetts and Texas. The average cost of attending a one week camp is $750. If you’d like to donate to the fund and double your impact at the same time, please contact Tim Yount, Chief Operating Officer of USA Triathlon at tim.yount@usatriathlon.org. Donations to USA Triathlon are tax deductible.
