USA Triathlon Weekend Notebook: Nov. 12
Andrew Starykowicz (Wauconda, Ill.) continued his late-season success by taking the win at Rev3 Florida in Venice, Fla., on Sunday. After a solid swim, Starykowicz characteristically took off on the bike with the fastest split of the day, putting significant time into the chasers as they headed out on the run. Australian Richie Cunningham posted the fastest run split of the day in pursuit but it was not enough to catch Starykowicz, who held on to the run to finish first in a time of 3:47:50. Cunningham came in second in3:49:46 with 2013 Rev3 Triathlon series leader Eric Limkemann (Richmond, Va.) in third in a time of 3:50:05.
The U.S. women also had a dominant day on the course, sweeping the podium. There was a large group coming out of the water together before the women’s 2013 Rev3 Triathlon series leader Lauren Goss (Clermont, Fla.), Meredith Kessler (San Francisco, Calif.) and Rebeccah Wassner (New Paltz, N.Y.) put some time in the rest of the pack on the bike leg. Heading out onto the run, Kessler quickly moved to the front and posted the fastest run split of the field to take first in a time of 4:11:48. Goss overtook Wassner early in the run and held on to second place, finishing in 4:16:46. With a fast swim and a well-rounded day, Jennifer Spieldenner (Findlay, Ohio) took third in 4:21:20.
