USA Triathlon Youth Splash & Dash Series Returns to Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — For the second straight year, one of the 40 nationwide swim-run events that comprise the USA Triathlon Youth Splash & Dash Aquathlon Series will head to Colorado Springs’ Memorial Park on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Hosted by USA Triathlon, the youth event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Memorial Park Recreation Center, located at 280 South Union Boulevard in Colorado Springs. Participants ages 7-10 will cover a 100-meter swim and a 1-kilometer run, while athletes ages 11-15 will complete a 200m swim and a 2k run. Visit usatriathlon.org for complete event information.
In connecting with the local community, USA Triathlon has forged a three-year partnership with Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC), an organization devoted to the improvement and sustainable development of youth and the environment. The proceeds of the Splash & Dash event will benefit MHYC, which provides employment, education, and training to local young adults ages 17-24 through environmental stewardship projects. Visit milehighyouthcorps.org for more information.
Educating youth athletes between the ages 7-15 about the multisport lifestyle is one of the primary objectives of the USA Triathlon Youth Splash & Dash Aquathlon Series, which is focused on participation and having fun, rather than competition.
All participants will receive a medal upon crossing the finish line and an official USA Triathlon Youth Splash & Dash Aquathlon Series T-shirt. Local partners include Chick-fil-A, Cabot and Mile High Organics. Chick-fil-A will provide post-race food, a PLINKO game and cow mascots for the event.
