Billington Logs 17th-Place Finish at ITU World Triathlon Stockholm

2013 series action concludes in three weeks in London

Stockholm, Sweden—USA Triathlon National Team member Greg Billington finished 17th on Sunday at the ITU World Triathlon Stockholm, the penultimate event of the 2013 ITU World Triathlon Series.

Billington (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished the 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike, 10-kilometer run course in 1 hour, 47 minutes, 8 seconds. The top-20 finish is Billington’s best in an ITU World Triathlon Series event this season.

London Olympic gold medalist Alistair Brownlee of Great Britain earned the win in 1:43:13. In an exact repeat of the London Olympic podium, Spain’s Javier Gomez was second in 1:43:27, and Great Britain’s Jonathan Brownlee was third in 1:43:50.

The 2013 ITU World Triathlon Series concludes in three weeks in London, England. The elite women will compete in the Grand Final on Sept. 14 and the elite men will follow on Sept. 15. Age-groupers, Juniors, Under-23s and paratriathletes will also compete for world titles Sept. 11-15.
