USA Triathlon’s Duathlon Nationals Head to St. Paul in One Month
Athletes compete for run-bike-run national titles, Team USA spots
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The 2014 Life Time USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championships will make its debut in St. Paul, Minnesota, on July 19, featuring the top run-bike-run athletes from across the United States.
The event will take place at St. Paul’s Harriet Island Regional Park, and the day’s action will kick off at 7:30 a.m. CT with age-group athletes competing at the 5-kilometer run, 32.4-kilometer bike, 5-kilometer run standard distance. Then, paraduathletes and sprint-distance competitors will race for titles on the 3.25k run, 21.6k bike, 3.25k run sprint course. St. Paul will also host Duathlon Nationals in 2015. Eric Burnett (Pasadena, Calif.) and Jennifer Scudiero (Eagan, Minn.) earned national titles at last year’s standard-distance championships in Oro Valley, Arizona, while Dan Grimm (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and Courtney Robles-Wiseman (Corona, Calif.) were crowned champions in the sprint race.
Duathlon Nationals is the sole qualifying event for the age-group 2015 Standard- and Sprint-Distance ITU Duathlon World Championships in Adelaide, South Australia, on October 14-18, 2015. The top 18 finishers in each age group, rolling down to 25th place, will qualify for Team USA.
