What is the best aspect of triathlon becoming an NCAA Emerging Sport for women?
The Mid-Atlantic region swept the competition in the National Challenge Competition!
For the second straight year, the DC Triathlon Club of Washington, D.C., was victorious in the 2012-2013 USA Triathlon National Challenge Competition, logging more than 164,500 weighted training miles between Dec. 1, 2012, and Feb. 28, 2013.
Designed to get triathletes excited about offseason training at the club level, the National Challenge Competition features official USA Triathlon clubs from across the country going head-to-head to see who could log the most training miles during the competition. A total of 1,551,902 weighted training miles were logged by 121 clubs and 3,053 athletes in a three-month period.
The NCC featured three sessions, each one month in duration. Clubs recorded their training miles and submitted them on the NCC website for automatic calculation and ranking. Mileage totals were weighted with each swimming mile equaling 10 miles and each running mile equaling three miles. Cycling miles were not weighted.
