Where do you spend the winter months training?
NCAA Emerging Sport Petition
Triathlon, the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. Olympic Movement, can become the next NCAA Emerging Sport for Women when collegiate leaders vote at the NCAA Convention on Jan. 15-18, 2014, in San Diego, Calif.
You can also reach out to your alma mater’s athletic department to support this vote to establish triathlon as an NCAA emerging sport for women. The vote will take place at the NCAA Convention January 15-18.
Why should you support this endeavor?
Triathlon is an Olympic sport with broad national participation, allowing schools to attract a unique set of elite female student-athletes not yet being served.
Triathlon creates revenue-generating opportunities and fosters community relations: host varsity competitions and include race options for the general public.
Triathlon offers an exciting competition event model featuring draft-legal cycling, a format used in the Olympic Games and International Triathlon Union (ITU) competition.
USA Triathlon has held collegiate national championships since 1992. Currently there are nearly 200 collegiate clubs on campuses nationwide.
