What is the best aspect of triathlon becoming an NCAA Emerging Sport for women?
Grand Opening of the OptumHealth Performance Center
A few questions were asked to discover what to expect with the new facility:
1) What are the big differences from the old studio to the new?
"At the new OptumHealth Performance Center we have drastically increased the numbers and quality of our equipment. We now have an eight Computrainer studio with two 55 inch monitors for riders to feel like they are on the road. We have added an Ultima Metabolic testing cart, 30 Tacx Bishudo trainers and 6 high speed treadmills. The increase in equipment allows us to offer more classes to more people than ever before. The addition of the OptumHealth Performance Store powered by Gear West Bike & Triathlon also closes the circle for athletes. Now everything an athlete could want in a sports specific training center is here at OptumHealth Performance."
2) What types of training are offered?
"We offer a new consolidated model of a one stop shop for our athletes. We offer personalized coaching, a full schedule of classes from Tri Yoga to Brick Spin, run, bike and swim analysis (utilizing underwater videography); new metabolic testing including the VO2 Max (Determines heart rate zones, anaerobic threshold, and maximum oxygen consumption.), RMR (Determines caloric requirements needed per day), and Lactate testing (provides a profile of aerobic and anaerobic conditioning levels). We also offer retail shopping of custom OptumHealth Performance wearables and general merchandise through a partnership with Gear West."
3) What changes are there in the staffing/hours?
"We have substantially increased the number of certified coaches and instructors we have from 4 to 10 and are open 6 days per week. OptumHealth gives us increased resources and support to make our dreams a reality."
OptumHealth Performance is also very happy to have in attendance at their open house, celebrity athletes Sarah Haskins, Pip Taylor, David Thompson and others, as well as the coaches who can help you meet your training goals. There will be demos of assessments and classes and giving aways for free OptumHealth Performance services. Bring your friends. Bring your gear. Bring your desire to know what it takes to optimize your performance. Come celebrate with us.
The open house will run from 8am – 6pm. For more information, the open house schedule or to sign up for classes, check out the OptumHealth Performance website.
