Nebraska to Form New Junior Triathlon Club-Team

(0 votes)

The new Nebraska Junior Triathlon Club-Team (NJTC-T) is being formed to promote the sport of triathlon and give the opportunity for youth and juniors (age 10-19) to compete in local and regional races. It will give youth the opportunity to learn and hone their triathlon skills. The mission of the Nebraska Junior Triathlon Club-Team will be based on these main principles;

  • Support, guidance and leadership to the athlete so they can achieve their goals in triathlon.
  • A network of coaches, athletes and contacts to further the athlete and teams goals.

  • The sport of triathlon and the ideals it is rooted in.
  • Sportsmanship, leadership and fair play.

  • A program which will identify and foster young elite level talent.
  • A team atmosphere that is supportive and challenging.

Club-Team Philosophy:
Our Personal Coaching/Training Philosophy is to share knowledge of the fundamentals of the sport of triathlon with the athlete, through safe, enjoyable coaching/training techniques and methods. To assist the athlete in setting, maintaining, monitoring, and achieving his or her goals, while developing self-confidence, discipline, and a feeling of self-worth. Above all, develop a lifestyle that will promote a lifetime of fitness and physical activity.

The Club-Team is a USA Triathlon sanctioned Club coached by USA Triathlon Certified Level II Coach Gary Bredehoft, CSCS. There will be weekly workouts in swimming, cycling, and running during the summer months (June 6-August 13). A weekly training schedule will be prepared for all athletes to their abilities and age. Weekly informational clinics will be held on a variety of topics including running, cycling, and swimming techniques, also nutrition, sport specific strength training, and equipment orientation. Club-Team members will have the opportunity to attend area races and compete. The club will have three different team levels of training and competition determined by age and experience level. Team costs will cover a wide range of support and team functions.  Purchase and maintenance of team gear, uniforms, team supplies, coaching & staffing, team sanctioning fees, social events and training clinics to name a few.  All race entry fees and travel costs will be covered by the athlete, race attendance is optional. An informational meeting will be held in May to accept formal registrations and Club information. For more information to sign up or questions please contact team coach and club director:
