Tri Monroe ITU Pan American Elite Cup, and ITU/PATCO Junior Pan American Cup – North America’s Best Triathletes coming to Northwest

On Saturday, June 25th North America’s best elite adults, juniors and youth will compete in International Triathlon Union (ITU) draft legal racing at Monroe, Washington. The ITU is Triathlon’s world Olympic governing body. All the elites are striving towards making the 2012 or 2011 Olympics. Tri Monroe has been named as both an ITU Pan American cup (elites over 19 years of age) and the PATCO Pan American Junior cup event (ages 16-19). In addition, the day offers ITU draft legal racing for youth (13-15). Monroe Washington is 30 minutes north of Seattle. This is the only international draft legal racing in the Pacific Northwest. The day offers Northwest athletes to come watch the best in a spectator friendly course at Lake Tye. Potentially we’ll see Simon Whitfield, Hunter Kemper and other noted ITU Olympic athletes. There is a $30,000 prize purse at stake for the adults. Age-group athletes are encouraged to then race the next day on much the same course as the elites at Tri Monroe Age-group in either triathlon, duathlon, aquabike or aquathon.

Tri Monroe Amateur – Setting a very high bar on quality triathlon

On Sunday, June 26th Total health Events continues their tradition of creating great multisports events such as ChelanMan, Grand Columbian, and Lake Samish. Tri Monroe Age Group will feature hundreds of amateur athletes racing in Olympic distance Triathlon, Duathlon, Aquabike and Aquathons held in Monroe Washington 30 minutes North of Seattle.. The swim will have the famous underwater “bouy line”; the 4 loop bike will be on a completely closed road course; and the 4 loop run on paved running trails. USAT referees will assure a fair race. All courses are the same venue as the ITU Tri Monroe Pan American Cup Elite , and we hope athletes will get a chance to meet some of North America’s elite triathletes from the ITU race. Representing the best USAT and ITU championship caliber races can offer, the international distance triathlon is the “Best of the US” Washington qualifier, and the top 1/3 in each age group qualify for the USAT national age-group championships in Burlington Vermont. Jon Hoskins is a USAT Level II certified race director and Lynne Level I certified Race Director. Jon and Lynne Hoskins of Total Health Events are the only ITU Championship level certified race directors in the Northwest.
