Victory is Sweet for Kevin Joyce at Strawberry Fields

(0 votes)

Kevin Joyce lead wire to wire to win the overall and Junior categories at the Strawberry Fields Triathlon in Oxnard, CA on July 17.  Kevin used a race best swim to lead out of the water and never looked back.  Kevin, who races for Monterey Bay Multisport, is enjoying a stellar summer racing the Talent ID series. He is taking his draft legal talents to San Diego to race at Junior Nationals August 6-7.

April Rosas-Willet, who also races for the Monterey Club, raced atop the 16-19 year old age group on Sunday. In the 13-15 Youth category, Carlo Ochman of Los Angeles and Mara Muslea of El Segundo raced to first place. Carlo used a stellar swim and bike to put time into his competitors before crossing the finish line. Mara used a strong swim to give her the lead from the beach all the way onto the run.

Congratulations to all the Youth and Junior racers. The next event in the USAT Southwest Talent ID Series is the Pyramid Lake Tri in Reno, Nevada. The Series Championship takes place in Santa Cruz on August 13 at the Santa Cruz Sprint Championships.
