Age Groupers

Age Grouper is just another way to say amateur. Anyone who does not have a pro/elite license is considered an age grouper and they race in events according to age groups, typically separated in five-year increments.

This is the take-off point for all you age groupers looking for information focused on your interests.

  • Rankings – All age groupers who have done three or more sanctioned "road" triathlons or two or more duathlons or off-road triathlons are included in the annual age group rankings.
  • Team USA – These pages include all the information you need to know if you've qualified for Team USA or just want to qualify.
  • Committees – Committees have been formed to advise the Board of Directors and work with the National Office and other members to promote and improve participation in multisport training and events.
  • World qualifying races – This provides links to pages with information about the national championships and the world championship qualifier. 
  • Officials program – Find out how to become an official for multisport races.
  • Regions – USA Triathlon has established 10 regional federations to promote multisport, to assist members and race directors in developing regional programs and championships, and to train and assign officials. The regional federations organize their own activities and maintain their own web sites.
  • Clubs – Clubs are where fun happens, where you can get together to train and party.  USAT actively promotes clubs.
  • Awards and Special Recognition – USA Triathlon recognizes its outstanding athletes, athletic performances, and races through a series of award programs.
