Club Championship Series Rules and Cash Prize information!
The Pacific Northwest Region of USAT is sponsoring a series of races to encourage Club participation in our region's USAT sanctioned triathlons. USAT Sanctioned Clubs will have the opportunity to earn points for their team throughout the season by submiting their members "best" showing. At the conclusion of the series, the top 3 Clubs in the region will be awarded monetary prizes (and bragging rights) for 2009. An Olympic and Sprint distance race in each state will allow for a competitive venue for team members to earn points for their club.
1. Determine Club Affiliation
Clubs eligible to participate must be USAT sanctioned club and be registered within the PNW region.
Your club affiliation is determined by your club membership status at your first race of the season (season is based off a calendar year). If an athlete changes clubs mid-season all points earned by the athlete for their original club stay with the original club. New points can be earned by the athlete for their new club at races once membership with the new club is consummated.
2. Determine Age Group
The PNW Club Championship Points Series age is the athlete's age on December 31 of the current racing year (2009).
Male and Female Age Groups:
15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
PC division
Athena & Clydesdale division
3. Select Race(s): Races include a Sprint distance and Olympic distance race in each state. Select from the list of PNW Club Championship Point Series races.
4. Earn Points
To become the Champion Club you must earn qualifying points for your club in your respective age group/division. We will determine your total points by using your best two races. A competitor may compete outside of his or her home state. However, the overall best points for a given race distance will only be counted once.
For example: Suzy earns 10 points at a Sprint distance race in Washington, but earns 30 in a Sprint race held in Oregon. Her official points will be submitted by her club's president (or designated party) and she will earn 30 points in the sprint category.
Earn points toward a club championship title by finishing in the top fifteen in your age group. We award points based on the type of race (Sprint, Olympic) and where you placed in your age group. As well we will "scale" the points based on the field size of the race. Field size will be determined by actual number of finishers in individual race category. *If a sprint distance and olympic distance race are held at the same venue, the specific number of finishers will be counted for each race. *

If any two teams score the exact amount of points, both parties will be awarded at the highest level with the next place level removed from awards.
For example: if two teams share 1st place both will receive $750, with third place being the next award amount issued. If two teams share third place both will be awarded $250.
Clubs wishing to participate should email the PNW race committee with their eligible club members. At the conclusion of each race, participants names should be emailed to the committee with place in age group/category. Race results will not be monitored by PNW Race committee and reporting of results will be the sole responsibility of the Club. Points/places will be verified and tallied by the race committee and will be posted on the PNW web site. No reporting...=...no points.
