USAT Junior Elite National ChampionshipsThe sole national championship for U.S. athletes between the ages of 16 and 19, the USAT Junior Elite National Championships is a draft-legal, sprint-distance triathlon that attracts the top junior triathletes from across the country. Typically held in early August, the event follows international draft-legal rules. Field limits are 80 athletes per division. Beginning in 2010, athletes 16-19 years old (Junior Elites) must satisfy the eligibility standards before registering for the event. Click here to review these criteria. The 2010 event will also host the Youth Elite National Championships (ages 13-15). Athletes competing in the 13-15 year old "Youth Elite" division do not need to meet the new eligibility standards. Contact Steve Kelley, Athlete Development Coordinator, steve.kelley@usatriathlon.org. Individual championships will take place on Saturday, August 14th. A team relay championship will take place on Sunday, August 15th. 2010

ITU/PATCO Pan American Junior Championship and Special Qualification Event for 2010 World ChampionshipsThe ITU/PATCO Pan American Junior Championships is a sprint-distance, draft-legal competition for 16-19 year olds. Because this event will take place after the 2010 ITU Junior World Championships, PATCO has schedule a Special Qualification Event earlier in the season to award world championship team slots to each National Federation. The size of a country's Junior World Championship Team is typically determined by the number of athletes placing in the top 15 at qualifying event. Entry into to this race is limited by ITU/PATCO rules and must be coordinated through USAT. The US could be limited to as few as 3 positions per gender, therefore, we have established a system for ranking athletes to determine who gets the spots. Please review the Eligibility Criteria below to see if you qualify. For entry information, contact Andy Schmitz, andy@usatriathlon.org.
