Registration for the 2008 USA Triathlon Art & Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium – which features a dynamic lineup of national and international triathlon experts discussing the latest in triathlon research, trends and coaching – is now open.
The Symposium, featuring keynote speakers John Naber, Antarctic Mike and Jim Ryun, will be held Sept. 21-23 at the Embassy Suites Hotel – Portland Washington Square in Portland, Ore.
Naber, a four-time Olympic gold medalist in swimming and now a network television and radio sports broadcaster, uses his experiences to teach others how to set world-class goals and achieve world-class results.
Antarctic Mike holds the U.S. marathon record in Antarctica, and in 2006, he became the first person to run back-to-back marathons in Antarctica.
Ryun, whose high school mile record of 3:55.3 stood for 36 years, competed in three Olympic Games and won the silver medal in the 1,500 meters in 1968.
The presenters and topics at the Symposium include: Bob Seebohar – metabolic testing, Inigo Mujika – peaking and tapering, Bobby McGee – mental skills and running, Randy Wilber – training of the elite endurance athlete: physiology “checklist,” Nicholas Romanov – running, and many more.
“USAT is proud to offer the 2008 Art and Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium as an excellent opportunity to bring together the best speakers and researchers from around the world to discuss the latest in research, training and coaching for triathlon,” said Linda Cleveland, USAT coach development manager. “The keynote speakers and lecturers will provide motivation and information everyone attending can use in their coaching, training, racing and everyday lives.”
Starting on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m. and concluding on Tuesday, Sept. 23 with a gala dinner and keynote speaker, this is a great opportunity for coaches, athletes, members and others to come to the Portland area for the USAT Age Group and Elite National Championships and stay for the Coaching Symposium. USAT coaches earn 15 CEUs for attending.
