ZOFINGEN, Switzerland – Eighteen age-group Team USA athletes competed at the 2026 World Triathlon Powerman Long Distance Duathlon World Championships on Sunday, Sept. 6, in Zofingen, Switzerland, racing a 10.8-kilometer run, 148.2-kilometer bike and 26.7-kilometer run.

Team USA athletes secured three podium finishes, led by second-place performances from Samantha Joray (Fort Worth, Texas) in the women’s 20-24 age group and Mark Fuller (Hollis, N.H.) in the open 40-44 age group. Karoline Muehlfellner (Dunedin, Fla.) rounded out the U.S. podium finishers with a third-place finish in the women’s 40-44 age group.

“The athletes who race in Zofingen take on what many consider one of the toughest challenges in all of duathlon and multisport,” said Tim Yount, USA Triathlon’s Chief Sport Development Officer. “We are so proud of the American athletes who have earned the opportunity to race in Switzerland and test themselves against the very best in the world.”

Zofingen is the birthplace of the Long Distance Duathlon World Championships, first hosting the event in 1989, and will be the home of the iconic event again in 2027.
