USA Triathlon Foundation Kicks Off Two Weeks of Giving to Support Youth Triathlon
by Kennedy Terry
The USA Triathlon Foundation today kicks off two weeks of giving in support of youth triathlon as part of Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day, a statewide giving initiative hosted by Colorado Gives Foundation. From Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. MT through 11:59 p.m. MT on Sept. 15, donors can support youth sports organizations through ColoradoGives.org.
As the charitable arm of USA Triathlon, the USA Triathlon Foundation invests in programs and opportunities that help every child discover a love of multisport and experience the lifelong benefits of swimming, biking and running. From creating accessible pathways for kids to get started to supporting athletes as they pursue their biggest dreams, the Foundation is working to make triathlon a sport where every kid can tri and where a childhood experience can become a lifelong passion.
While Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day is a statewide giving initiative, supporters from across the country are invited to participate and make a gift. Gifts made to the USA Triathlon Foundation will support youth triathlon initiatives nationwide, helping expand access to the sport and create opportunities for young athletes across the United States, not only in Colorado.
- Inspire the next generation to live active, healthy lives and believe in their dreams.
- Expand access to triathlon for underrepresented communities and help more children experience the joy of multisport.
- Support para and adaptive athletes and promote greater inclusion throughout the sport.
- Empower USA TRI Development athletes as they pursue their goals on the pathway to the Olympic and Paralympic podiums.
- Provide coaches, mentors and community programs with the resources needed to introduce more young people to triathlon.
“Every young person deserves the opportunity to discover the transformative power of sport and experience the confidence, connection and lifelong benefits it can provide,” said Jason Rizzi, USA Triathlon Foundation Chief Development Officer. “On Youth Giving Day, the generosity of our supporters helps break down barriers to participation and opens doors for young athletes to grow, compete and dream bigger, both in sport and in life.”
A generous USA Triathlon Foundation donor has committed to matching the first $10,000 raised! That means your gift can go twice as far in helping more kids discover the lifelong benefits and joy of triathlon.
Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day runs from Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. MT through Sept. 15 at 11:59 p.m. MT. During the campaign, eligible online gifts made through ColoradoGives.org can benefit from multiple matching opportunities.
A dollar-for-dollar Match Pool through the Colorado Gives Foundation will also begin when the campaign opens, giving participating youth sports organizations an opportunity to amplify donor support. New this year, donors giving online through a donor-advised fund (DAF), IRA or wire transfer can also unlock a dollar-for-dollar match through the America250 Fund, a new $250,000 matching opportunity.
Matching opportunities are available for eligible online gifts made through ColoradoGives.org and are subject to campaign guidelines and available matching funds. Once the match pools are exhausted, additional online gifts can continue to benefit from the Incentive Fund, which provides percentage-based matching throughout the remainder of the campaign.
Supporters can make an impact at every giving level:
- $25 - Helps provide a young triathlete with essential training gear, such as a swim cap, goggles or race-day essentials.
- $50 - Supports training, practice or development opportunities for a youth triathlete.
- $100 - Helps provide a certified coach with resources to lead training sessions and mentor young triathletes.
- $250 - Helps cover transportation of essential equipment and gear for athletes competing at national and international events.
- $500 - Expands access to triathlon through introductory community events, youth programs and school-based clinics.
- $1,000+ - Supports training and resources for coaches and mentors helping new and underserved athletes discover, participate in and thrive in triathlon.
