YOKOHAMA, Japan — U.S. Elite Paratriathletes won four gold medals and seven total on Saturday, May 16 in Yokohama at the 2026 World Triathlon Para Series Yokohama, the second stop of the 2026 Para Series.

USA TRI National Team members Grace Norman (Bloomington, Ind.), Hailey Danz (Denver, Colo.), and Mark Barr (Davis, Calif.), along with Paralympic swimmer turned paratriathlete McClain Hermes (Dacula, Ga.), each won gold on Saturday to lead the USA TRI contingent in Yokohama.

Fellow medalists included USA TRI National Team members Emi Perry (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Mohamed Lahna (Hayward, Calif.), who earned silver and bronze, respectively, and Taylor Talbot (Chula Vista, Calif.), a former Paralympic track athlete, who earned bronze.

Ahead of Saturday’s races, U.S. athletes debuted USA Triathlon’s new brand, USA TRI, which will serve as the unified identity for the organization's elite athlete storytelling and entire high-performance program.

Norman kicked off her 2026 season in style, winning gold in the women’s PTS5 classification, racing the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5k run in a time of 1 hour, 40 seconds, over 4 minutes ahead of second place.

Danz won the women’s PTS2 in a similar dominant fashion, cruising to the victory in 1:12:34.

Barr took gold in the men’s PTS2, clocking a time of 1:03:51 to best his teammate, Lahna, who earned the bronze in 1:05:09.

Hermes had a banner day, winning gold in the women’s PTVI classification, along with her guide Kirsten Sass (McKenzie, Tenn.), with a time of 1:03:56. The win is the first at a World Triathlon Para Series for Hermes, who came into Yokohama confident following her win at the World Triathlon Para Cup Samarkand two weeks ago.

Talbot also raced to a first on Saturday, earning her first career World Triathlon Para Series medal, a bronze in the women’s PTVI, with her guide Amy Cymerman.

Perry raced to silver in the women’s PTWC with a time of 1:01:24 to give the U.S. seven medals on the day.

Fans can directly support these athletes’ journeys to the LA28 Paralympic Games through Elevate28, the USA Triathlon Foundation’s most ambitious campaign yet.

Because USA Triathlon receives no direct government funding, philanthropy fuels the world-class coaching, training environments, sport science, and international competition U.S. athletes rely on to compete and win on home soil.
