Brice Allen’s Top-10 Finish Leads U.S. Juniors at 2026 World Triathlon Junior World Championships
by Kennedy Terry
PONTEVEDRA, Spain – Sixteen-year-old Brice Allen placed tenth on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the 2026 World Triathlon Junior World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, leading the U.S. junior men.
Allen finished the Sprint Distance course (750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run) in 54 minutes, 44 seconds, just 39 seconds behind Thibault Rivier (SUI), who placed first in 54:05. Dinis Ferreira (POR) finished second in 54:07, while Jelle Kaindl (AUT) rounded out the podium in 54:19. Allen was one of just two 16-year-olds in the field and the youngest athlete to finish inside the top 10.
After starting the run in 30th place after riding in a chase pack on the bike leg, Allen made his move. He climbed nine positions during the first lap before gaining another 11 spots on the second, posting a 15:17 5k to finish.
Graham Hummel, who spent much of the race with the lead bike group, finished 36th in 56:08. Nathanael Hamilton placed 40th in 56:42. Jenna Gilhooly led the U.S. women with a 31st-place finish. Amelia Avila placed 46th, while Louise Delgado finished 57th.
Allen has continued to make strides on the international junior circuit this season. On Sept. 5, he earned his first World Triathlon podium with a third-place finish at the 2026 Europe Triathlon Junior Cup City of Derry.
For athletes like Allen, reaching the Junior World Championships is part of a much larger journey, one that begins years before an athlete ever races on a World Championship start line.
The USA Triathlon Foundation helps support that journey by investing in the athletes, programs and opportunities that build the next generation of U.S. elite triathletes. From developing junior athletes at the beginning of the performance pathway to helping them progress toward the highest levels of the sport, Foundation support helps create a clear path from promise to podium.
Allen’s top-10 finish in Pontevedra is one example of what the USA Triathlon Foundation can help make possible. Interested in helping build the next generation of Olympic and Paralympic triathletes? Support Elevate28 and help shape the future of USA TRI.
