2021 Actions for Change Summit#
Together, We Thrive: Actions for Change Summit #
Purpose
The 2nd Annual Together, We Thrive: Actions for Change Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access Summit is to continue the conversations around DEIA in multisport. Sharing success stories for individuals in the community who have had positive impacts on multisport in the DEIA space will continue but an expanded focus on specific constituent groups. Presentations will focus on programs/initiatives/experiences, challenges that were faced along the way and action items for others to use in their communities. We’re aim to touch on all areas of DEIA within multisport with topics ranging from breaking through barriers and Paratriathlon growth to women in the sport, allyship and a Diverse and Inclusive Environment. Tracks specific to Race Directors, Coaches, and Club Administrators will be offered.
Why We’re Hosting This Summit
The need for this summit is based off the number of community members who have reached out to USA Triathlon on what they can do to help diversify and foster inclusion in our community. Over the summer of 2020, USA Triathlon hosted 10 Community roundtables focused on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access and a common theme was that individuals want to be involved in DEIA within the sport but are not sure where to start or what type of impact they could have in the space. This summit will focus on actionable take-aways that individuals can tweak to use within their community.
