Three decades of personal and professional engagement in the multisport community, coupled with extensive executive leadership and nonprofit board experience, uniquely equip me to serve as on the USA Triathlon board and contribute to its strategic goals.
My journey in multisport began unexpectedly, evolving from a non-athletic upbringing to a lifelong passion. After discovering outdoor activities in college, I embraced adventure racing and endurance mountain biking, completing numerous events domestically and abroad. Since moving to Boulder in 2007, I’ve fallen in love with triathlon, joining a local club and completing more than 25 iron-distance and 70.3 races, including two Ironman World Championships (plus Nice and Marbella coming this fall).
Professionally, my involvement in triathlon deepened when I joined Pocket Outdoor Media after two decades overseeing Backpacker, Ski, Climbing, and other outdoor media brands. At Pocket (later Outside Interactive), I managed Triathlete, Velo News, and Women’s Running, and collaborated with USAT leadership on several content initiatives. As the company grew, I assumed responsibility for Outside Events and OutsideTV, launching the Outside Festival in 2024 in collaboration with the State of Colorado and developing longterm partnerships with Ironman, PTO, and UTMB. Currently, I serve as CEO of Teton Gravity Research, an iconic action sports brand.
My executive roles at Active Interest Media, Outside, and Teton Gravity Research during periods of significant industry upheaval have taught me the value of nimble leadership, innovative thinking, and disciplined operations. With extensive experience managing complex businesses that serve active lifestyle communities, I would bring very relevant strategic and creative skills to USAT.
I would also bring significant nonprofit board experience, including multiple terms as a board president at different organizations, providing a deep understanding of governance, planning, and process. My prior collaboration with USAT leadership also means I can hit the ground running.
