U.S. Elite Paratriathletes Win 4 Medals at 2025 World Triathlon Para Series Yokohama
by USA Triathlon
YOKOHAMA, Japan — Four U.S. Elite Paratriathletes won medals on Saturday, May 17 on a rainy day in Yokohama at the 2025 World Triathlon Para Series Yokohama, the second stop of the 2025 Para Series.
Kelly Elmlinger (San Antonio, Texas) won gold in the women's PTS4, racing the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5k run in a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes, 29 seconds. The race in Yokohama was the first for Elmlinger since an illness prevented her from competing at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Two of Elmlinger's 2024 U.S. Paralympic Team members also won medals on Saturday in Yokohama.
In the men’s PTS4, Carson Clough (Charlotte, N.C.) sprinted to bronze, using an epic final dash and lean to secure his spot on the podium. The Paris 2024 silver medalist finished in a time of 1:04:11.
Mohamed Lahna (Hayward, Calif.) earned bronze in the men's PTS2 race, as he finished in 1:13:50 in his paratriathlon season debut. He won the silver at the 2024 Paralympic Games. This year, earlier in May, Lahna made history by winning the first-ever para category at a major U.S. trail race, running to first place at the 2025 Canyons Endurance Run, qualifying him for the 2026 UTMB OCC in Chamonix.
Rounding out the medal performances on the day in Yokohama was Zachary Osborne (Raleigh, N.C. ), who raced to the bronze in the men's PTS3, clocking a time of 1:13:52.
