Personal

Chase McQueen grew up in Columbus, Indiana with his parents, Neile and Matthew, his two sisters, Samantha and Caroline, and their three dogs Louie, Oakley, and Remy.

Chase competed collegiately at the University of Arizona, studying finance while racing track and cross country. After transferring to ASU, he completed his undergraduate degree and joined Project Podium, continuing his development toward the international stage. A fan of both the Arizona Wildcats and Indiana Hoosiers, Chase has deep ties to the places that shaped his athletic career.

His triathlon journey hit a turning point at his first Junior National Championships in Ohio, where a 42nd-place finish opened his eyes to just how demanding the sport is—and how much work it takes to succeed. Watching Jonny and Alistair Brownlee medal at the London 2012 Olympics only fueled that motivation, making the Olympic dream feel real. Over the years, Chase has been guided by a long list of coaches and mentors, from his high school swim and run coaches to college and professional coaches, all of whom played key roles in his progression.

Chase keeps race week simple—no superstitions, just straightforward training, plenty of rest, and simple carbs leading into competition. A typical day includes early swims, long bike sessions with intervals, an evening run, and a strict commitment to recovery. He’s faced his share of challenges, including injuries and even being hit by cars twice while riding, but resilience has become part of the job.

When he's not training or racing, you can find Chase listening to Eminem or watching Interstellar.
