Age Group Team USA Competes in Australia for 2024 World Triathlon Multisport Championships

TOWNSVILLE, Aus. - More than 350 age group Team USA athletes represented the U.S. in the land down under from Aug. 15-24 for the World Triathlon Multisport Championships in Townsville, Australia. The event celebrated multisport and featured eight World Championship events - Duathlon Sprint, Duathlon Standard, Duathlon Mixed Relay, Cross Triathlon, Cross Duathlon, Aquathlon, Long Distance Triathlon and Aquabike.

The 12-day competition was action-packed, complete with an Opening Ceremony, Parade of Nations and Closing Ceremony party. 

“We were so fortunate that over 350 U.S. athletes from more than 25 states were able to experience this amazing venue," said Tim Yount, Chief Sport Development Officer.

Among the Team USA athletes who competed included Scott Croner (Papillion, Neb.), Larry Nelson (Hixson, Tenn.) and Michael Felicissimo (Thornton, Colo.), who all earned the illustrious title of World Triathlon “Multisport Legend.” The proud title is earned by racing and completing five or more World Championships races at the Multisport World Championships.
